Iris Inez Nolan Tomlinson

Iris Inez Nolan Tomlinson, 89, of Edgewater, Fla. died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.  Born in Lake Wales, Mrs. Tomlinson moved to the Edgewater area in 1975 from Alachua county. 
She was a waitress for many years as well as a homemaker.  She loved quilt making and riding in the car admiring the scenery.  
Survivors include her 5 sons, William "Bill" Nolan Tomlinson, Robert "Dodi" Otis Tomlinson, Burton Douglas Tomlinson, Wayne Tyrus Tomlinson and Winston Roy Tomlinson; a brother Gary M. Nolan; 21 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton; daughter, Regina and son, Sidney.
Calling hours will be 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach Chapel.  Funeral service at the graveside  will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, at Live Oak Cemetery, Live Oak, Fla.

Douglas King

Douglas King, 87, passed away on Jan. 19, 2013 at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Lake City. Doug was born near McAndrews, KY on Oct. 1, 1925. He served in the Navy from 1942-46 and from 1951-52. His long career included a stint as a radar technician for RCA aboard the USS Twin Falls during the early days of the U. S. Space Program. He also worked with his son Larry in Orlando under the name of King Heating and Air Conditioning. He was a laser technician and worked as service manager for Control Laser before his retirement. A Baptist, Doug taught Sunday school at Mount Gilead Baptist Church. At the time of his death he was a member of Rosemary Baptist Church. Doug King is preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Lorraine Hensley King and survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan Hancock King. He is survived by three children: Larry Douglas King (and his wife Jean), Debra Lynn Ramsey (and her husband David), and Robert Edward King. He leaves six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord” Revelation 14:3 Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 at Rosemary Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Ur officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
