Live Oak —
One lane on Interstate 75 just south of the Florida Welcome Center at the Georgia line is scheduled to be closed for the next four nights beginning tonight (December 26) through Monday night (December 30).
Each night, from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m., either the outside lane or inside lane in one direction will be closed to allow contractors to conduct soil borings for the proposed location of a new Florida welcome sign. The borings must be completed before final design work can be finished on the new Gateway signs to be constructed at the Florida-Georgia line on both Interstates 75 and 95 next year.
The exploratory work also includes daytime lane closures on the Bellville Road overpass over I-75 during daytime hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The overpass is just south of the Welcome Center.
The exit ramp from the Florida Welcome Center will not be affected.
