Fire destroys family home on Dec. 21

Live Oak — A Suwannee County family lost their home and all of their belongings to a fire just days before Christmas, Suwannee County Fire Marshal Tim White reported.

According to a SCFR report, on Saturday, Dec. 21, at approximately 7:25 p.m. SCFR was notified of a structure fire on 73rd Court in Live Oak. Upon arrival, crew members found a two-story wood framed structure fully involved. Crews fought the fire in a defensive mode and quickly brought the fire under control.

The owners were not home at the time of the fire.

The report stated a cooking appliance started the fire in the kitchen, which spread to the second floor.

Three family pets perished in the fire.

Stations1, 2, 5 and 51 responded to the scene.

The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office Victims Advocate and the American Red Cross were called in to assist the family.
