Suwannee Allstars 12U opens season

Coach Maulden to hang up hat after 20 years

Live Oak —

This season marks the final one for Suwannee Allstars 12U head coach Donny Maulden. He has served in the position for 20 years.

“I’m done after we’re through with Allstars,” said Maulden.

Maulden said he will continue being a great supporter of the organization, team and coaches.

This season’s team was recently put together and their first tournament is Thursday, June 26, in Perry.

“We’ve been together about four weeks and we have to play the district tournament,” said Maulden. “Being that Live Oak is hosting the state tournament, we’re automatically in the state tournament.”

It’s early in the season for the boys, but Maulden said they seem to be shaping up to be a good team.

“So far the team is looking pretty decent,” said Maulden. “We’ll find out when we actually face somebody.”

Season expectations?

“I expect them to go out and do good. I really do,” said Maulden. “This will be the third year they’ve been to state. They won their way to state the last two years, so I’m hoping they’ll win the districts this year.”
