SHS Lady soccer: 
From Forrest High to PK Yonge

Live Oak — Ladies shutout Forrest


Suwannee wins 7-0


The Lady ‘Dogs traveled to Jacksonville on Wednesday, Nov. 28 to face district opponent Forrest High School. This was a one sided affair from the get go as Suwannee kept the ball down Forrest’s end of the field most of the night.


The Lady ‘Dogs had a total of 46 shots on goal and the scoring totals were as follows: Kelsey Parlato had one goal and one assist, Brooke Wainwright had one goal, Riley Walczak had two assists, captain Meghan Tyrell had one assist and Captain Grace Brett had a great night with five goals. Two of the goals were scored on penalty kicks and there were three yellow cards but all were procedural calls.

Lady ‘Dogs dominate Eastside


Suwannee wins 3-1



The Lady ‘Dogs soccer team faced Eastside of Gainesville at home on Monday night, Dec. 3 and they were prepared for Eastside wanting to avenge a loss and a tie on their field on Nov. 7. 


You can tell in a rematch which team has improved more than the other and on this night, Suwannee had the advantage there in both contests. 


The Lady Dogs varsity assistant coach Tommy Brett was covering for coach Doug Mabey in the JV game and they got going early with three goals in the first half. The second half was all defense and Suwannee was able to substitute and rest their starters. There were a total of 14 shots on goal and the scoring was as follows: Megan Letu had an assist, captain Shan Johnson had two goals and one assist, Yareli Olguin had one goal and Ayla Pidgeon had an assist. 


The varsity Lady ‘Dogs had a great night also and got their first goal 13 minutes into the game by Kelsey Parlato. Parlato got another goal just one minute later with an assist by Broke Wainwright. The score at the half was 2-1 but Suwannee took control in the second half with a goal at the 24 minute mark by Brooke Wainwright and the assist by captain Grace Brett.

Suwannee won it 3-1.


The Varsity team’s victory was dampened by an injury to captain Leigh Durden which was later diagnosed as a mild concussion and she has been game to game.
