Dorothy Louise Hudson age 76, of O’Brien, Florida passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at her home following a lengthy illness. The Anderson, Indiana native moved to O’Brien in 1989 from Lakeland, Fla.. Before she became ill she worked as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home in Lake City, Fla. Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, swimming and cooking out if she didn’t have to do it herself. She also adored spending time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Willard Harry Hudson who passed away July 23, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Rich McFall, Medford, Oregon; Greg McFall, Lakeland, Fla.; two daughters, Annette McFall, Gulfport, Miss. and Kim Ridge, O’Brien, Fla.; seven brothers, Delbert Hilligoss, Nichols, Fla.; Bill Hilligoss and Butch Hilligoss of Anderson, Ind.; Rueben Hilligoss and Harry Hilligoss of North Vernon, Ind.; Richard Hilligoss, Lakeland, Fla.; Mike Hilligoss, Titusville, Fla.; one sister, Vicky Girt, North Vernon, Ind.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Branford, Fla.

Edna Brown Marable, age 87 of Jasper, Fla. passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs. Edna was born May 8, 1924 in Jasper, Fla. to the late W.D. and Texas Johnson Brown. Mrs. Marable was always faithful to her church and taught Sunday School for 64 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Live Oak, Fla. Mrs. Marable was preceded in death by her parents, W.D and Texas Brown and her husband, Matt Marable, Sr. Survivors include two sons, Matt Marable, Jr. (Gayle), Jasper, Fla. and Richard Marable (Lynne), Perry, Fla.; one daughter, Delores Howell (Richard), Jasper, Fla.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Graveside services were held Monday, May 23, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Florida Baptist Children’s Home, 8415 Buck Lake Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32317 or to First Baptist Church 401 West Howard Street Live Oak, Florida, 32064 or to your charity of choice.

Marie A. Walker

Marie A. Walker, 93, of Branford, Fla. passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011. The New Brunswick, Canada native moved to Branford from Ft. Myers, Fla. in 2002. Marie was involved in pet care and grooming and owned a pet shop for many years. She was also involved with the Does, a women's group affiliated with the Elks Lodge, where she served as a past president. She was also actively involved in her church choir and was a member of the Catholic faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Francis G. Walker.
Marie is survived by her daughter: Carol A. Benigni, Wallingford, Conn.; son: Tim J. & Debbie Walker, Branford, Fla.; brother: Ray M. Robichaud, Athol, Mass.; and four grandchildren: Rob Schott, Marc Benigni, Rachel Walker and Joshua Walker.

New London - Helen "Nikki" Kilpatrick of New London, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Live Oak, Fla.
Born Aug. 13, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., to deaf parents, Evelyn and Nicholas DeCairano.
Since meeting the love of her life in 1959, Nikki lived as the proud military wife of retired Navy Officer CWO2 Edward Kilpatrick. Together, they built a family of amazing daughters and a community of cherished friends, neighbors, and colleagues who they loved as their own.
Nikki is survived by her loving husband, Ed of New London; daughters, Donna Thornton/Jonathan of Live Oak, Fla., Debra Hanson of Jacksonville, Fla., Lorraine Speed of Waterford, Colleen Bradley of Forked River, N.J., Michele Pluss/Russell of New London, Kassy Kilpatrick/Kathryn Dunoon of Scotland; niece, Nicola Pender Dulin of Oakdale; grandkids, Michael/Sarah Hanson, Deanna Hanson, Donald, Matthew, and Kathleen Speed, Daniel and Caitlyn Bradley, Pamela/Nicholas Rosanio, and Sean Pluss; great-grandchildren, Julia and Sophia Hanson, Landon Michael Adams Bradley; her sister, Betty Hamm of Texas; and her 97 year old uncle, Michael Cariano of Toms River, N.J.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Evelyn DeCariano; her aunt, Theresa Cariano; and her adopted sister, Roberta Pender.
Nikki spent her career as the first company interpreter with the National Theatre of the Deaf, then located at the Eugene O'Neill Theater in Waterford. Nikki was an original member of NTD and toured with the group locally and nationally. Her skill and insights were part of the heart of NTD. Her presence is felt to this day. She was an expert interpreter and was at the beginning of what is a new field in interpreting, theatrical interpreting. As a mentor she took charge and organized interpreters for the annual professional summer school and was an advisor and friend to actors, directors, and everyone she came in contact with. She met and interpreted for many famous theatre people and was relied on and respected.
Notably, she went to Paris and London where she worked with Sir Michael Redgrave. She attended all rehearsals and summer school programs from 1967 to 1987 before the company moved to Chester. As a registered sign language interpreter for the State of Connecticut, she was also instrumental in getting TTY devices at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. She was an expert and a good person.
Nikki adored anything involving theater and entertainment. She was dedicated to the Surfers Drum and Bugle Corps. As a founding member of Surfers Alumni Association, she renewed her passion when the 7th Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps was formed in 2001.
Friends are invited to join the family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, at Mr. G's Restaurant, Williams St., New London, to celebrate Nikki's life.
