Smith celebrates 100th birthday

Mrs. Luevennia Houston Smith, a centurion, was born May 25, 1909 in Live Oak. She celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, May 31, at Suwannee Health Care Center.

In attendance were brothers, sisters-in-law, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews and friends, church members, staff of Suwannee Health Care.

Ms. Smith previously lived in Houston, Fla. before moving to Live Oak in 1954. She also is a founding member of First Church of God since 1947 where her membership remains current.

She retired from Suwannee Laundry after 38 years. Previously she worked at Live Oak Laundry and Thompson Cleaners as a presser.

Mrs. Smith has a devoted adopted daughter and caretaker, as well as church member Lucenda Philpot and husband Leroy Philpot, whom food was prepared along with entire Philpot family.
