Update: 2 car collision in Wellborn

Minor injuries reported

Live Oak — Two Suwannee County people suffered only minor injuries in a Monday night, two-vehicle car crash on US 90 East at CR 137, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, a 2000 Ford F-150 driven by David Christopher Smith, 53, Wellborn, was traveling westbound on US 90 when he turned left into the eastbound travel lane and into the path of a 2008 Mercury driven by Sara Mae Grest, 31, Live Oak. Grest was unable to avoid hitting the F-150, striking the vehicle in the right front with its front.

The force of impact caused the F-150 to rotate counter clockwise and come to a final rest in the eastbound lane of US 90 facing northeast.

The Mercury rotated clockwise and came to a final rest in the southbound lane of CR 137, about 30 feet south of US 90 facing south.

Grest was treated on scene by Suwannee County Fire/Rescue and transported to Lake City Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Smith was treated on scene and transported to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

The eastbound lane of US 90 was closed for about one hour while emergency crews cleared the roadway.

FHP reports that Smith was not wearing a seatbelt and that Grest was.
