BULLETIN: TOXIC SPILL ON I-75 CAUSES EVACUATION

By Jo Ross, Reporter

A two-mile radius surrounding an early morning traffic crash site was evacuated as Florida Highway Patrol Troopers and Hamilton County sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle crash which led to a toxic spill just after 5 a.m. this morning. Interstate 75 was closed from US 129 to Interstate 10.

The crash created a traffic nightmare for early morning school and work travelers, but a toxic spill during the crash necessitated the evacuation of traffic and residents within a two-mile radius.

The accident occurred just before the northbound overpass of County Road 25A on I-75 in Jasper, near the agriculture inspection station.

We’ll post more information as it becomes available.
