It's that time of year again for the Suwannee River Riding Club. Friday, Nov. 11, the club held its annual hunt for the best in riding, prettiest and most personable young lady to be queen for the upcoming year. The new queen for 2006 is Stevie Register. The new 2006 princess is Andrea Lawrence.
The contest featured each girl riding in the Live Oak Bob Holmes rodeo arena while her personally taped resume was played over the public address system. Then the girls had to compete in an equitation demonstration featuring walk, trot and lope along with backing and side-passing. After the equitation, the girls rode the cloverleaf barrel pattern.
For the final part of the contest, the three judges interviewed each girl about her horse and her experiences. Judges for the 2006 queen contest were Scott Davis of McAlpin, Marie Dooley of Live Oak and Wilma Lowe of Wellborn.
The judges conferred and the 2006 queen for Suwannee River Riding Club was announced. Stevie Register received her crown and sash from last year's queen Traci Minix. Andrea Lawrence received her tiara and sash from 2005 princess Crystal Moffat.
First runner-up to the queen went to Samantha Gerhauser.
First runner-up for princess went to Amber Moffat. Second runner-up for princess went to Darrah Lane and third runner-up went to Kami Boswell.
The queen and princess will represent Suwannee River Riding Club at rodeos and club events for the year 2006.
