The North Florida Community College women's fast-pitch softball team posted a 47-10 record for the season and finished seventh in the 2004 Florida Fast-Pitch Softball Championship this past weekend in Kissimmee. State champions in 2003, the Sentinels defeated Polk and Okaloosa-Walton community colleges, then fell in the fourth round of the double elimination tournament to Pensacola Community College.



Tournament scores were: a win over Polk CC 8 to 1: loss to Manatee CC 5-1; win against Okaloosa-Walton CC 2-1 and loss to Pensacola CC 6-2.



Jackie Bates made the Region 8 All-Tournament Team. Bates plays third base and first base and is a freshman from Elgin Park High School in British Columbia.



Jenny Baaske and Ashley Smith made the Gulf District All-Tournament Team. Baaske plays second base and is a sophomore from Richmond High School in British Columbia. She was named to the Gulf District and All-State tournament teams last year.



Ashley Smith plays outfield and is a sophomore from Madison High School in Madison. She also received Gulf District and All-State tournament honors last season.



The Sentinels, coached by Joe Morabito, are Panhandle Conference runner-ups.



The state tournament is sponsored by the Florida Community College Activities Association and National Junior College Athletic Association Region VIII.
