There will be a lot of excitement resonating from this year's 27th Annual Lafayette County Pioneer Day that will be heard miles around. The Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will be a two day event for the first time this year on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14 and 15.

Pioneer Day, a family fun-filled affair, will have a variety of booths, activities, and plenty of good food to fill hearty appetites. There will be plenty of things to do for the whole family while you are entertained by good music.

A Friday night street dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Wayne and Virginia Fletcher, as well as the Green River Connection Band, will be providing the music. The music and entertainment on Saturday will be provided by Gary Macks Western Show.

If you come at 10 a.m., on Saturday, you will get to watch the Pioneer Day Parade. Everyone will be showing their Pioneer Day spirit. There will be floats of different shapes and sizes; the Lafayette County High School Band will be playing; local organizations and clubs will show their colors; and you will see this year's Granny and Pappy. You may even see your friend, relative, or neighbor in the parade. Also, be sure to check out the Pioneer Day Art Show on display from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the lobby of Lafayette State Bank. The festivities will end at 6 p.m.

The Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce is very excited about this year's Pioneer Days and invites everyone to attend and show their Pioneer Day spirit.

Pioneer Days will be held at the Mayo Town Park, located just across from the Lafayette State Bank on SR 27.
