OUR VIEW - July 9

Response to our online Question of the Week indicates that, as of this writing, roughly a third of you haven't yet made your picks for the Aug. 26 primary election. That's perfectly understandable. Deciding for whom to vote isn't like paying your taxes. Waiting - even to the last minute - can prove quite beneficial. The longer you study the issues, the better informed you can be when you head to the polls.
That's why we schedule our quadrennial candidates' forum, The Last Word, at the eleventh hour, so to speak. This time it's set for Thursday, Aug. 21 in the Music Hall at the Spirit of the Suwannee.
We're planning on a big turnout - both of candidates and of voters. We hope to have everybody on the ballot in attendance, so the experience will be something akin to one-stop political shopping.
If you've already made your picks, come give the other candidates a listen anyway. Who knows what you'll hear.
Admission is free. We'll get started at 6:30 p.m., but come early to get a good seat.
