Herbert Weierman Snyder

Herbert Weierman Snyder, 89, of Mayo, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the V.A. Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.  Herbert was born May 29, 1923 in Lansdale, PA, to the late William and Emma (Weierman) Snyder
Mr. Snyder was of the Methodist Faith and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mayo, Fla.  He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and a member of the Day Masonic Lodge and a member of the Eastern Star of Mayo Chapter 196.  In  his spare time he enjoyed golfing, doing cross-words, and spending time with his family.  While enlisted in the Coast Guard he enjoyed boxing and was able to spar with some big-named boxers.  He also enjoyed working with his hands.  While living in Mayo he worked at the prison library where he enjoyed working with the prisoners and wanted to have a positive spiritual influence on them.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Judy (Snyder) Hacker and her husband Donald of Pennsylvania; Jill McMillan of Mayo; Jan Roth and her husband Scott from Pennsylvania; 2 sons: Jay Snyder and his wife Toneta of California; and Jim Snyder and his wife Dawn of California; 1 sister: Dot Lukens of Pennsylvania; 7 grandchildren;1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Mayo with Pastor Geary Rowell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church of Mayo, U.S. Highway 27 and State Highway 51, Mayo, Fla. 32066.   All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home.

Charles Wayman McCray, 76, of Mayo, Fla., passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Malcom Randall V.A. Hospital in Gainesville, Fla..  Mr. McCray was born July 18, 1936 in Mayo, Fla., to the late Lester and Lela (Jackson) McCray.
