Nora Lightsey Bradley left this earth to reside with the Lord on Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Nora was a lifelong member of the community and The Burlington Santa Fe Church of Christ. She was a Mother, Mentor and Friend to many. The life she led made her highly respected and greatly loved by all who knew her. She will be missed.
Mrs. Bradley is predeceased by her loving Husband of 67 years; William Bascom “W.B.” Bradley, JR and her son William “Brad” Bascom Bradley, III. Nora is survived by her Daughter Jonnye Kay Towery and her Son-N-Law Richard Towery; 2 Grandchildren, Darien Amber Towery, Russell Carey Towery (Amy); 2 Great-grandchildren, Lou Towery and Maddox Towery; also many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 21, 2012; visitation at 1:00 and funeral services following at 2:00 P.M. , Burlington Santa Fe Church of Christ in Branford, Florida. Officiating will be Melvin Barker, Ken Campbell and Landis Suggs. Interment will follow at Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery.

Dennis George, age 63, departed this life Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center. Dennis was born May 23, 1949 in Live Oak, FL to the late Richard Charlie George (RC) and Rose Lee Grimmage George. Dennis attended Suwannee County Public Schools. Dennis is a well known resident of Suwannee County. He was a great mechanic, a loving brother and friend. He will always be remembered by his smile. He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Luvenia George Brown to that union four children were born. One son preceded him in death, David Lee George. He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted friend: LaRuth Ford; two sons: Dennis (DeDe) George JR, Jarvis George; one step-son: Albert Ford; one daughter: Rhonda Ivey (Eugene); four granddaughters: Bryonna Washington, Brynnica Brown, Francis George and Denise George all of Live Oak, FL; six brothers: Levy George, Richard George, Roosevelt (Gene) George, Eddie (Lillie) George all of Live Oak, FL, Johnny(Andra) George, Killeen, TX and Sammy (Shelia) George, Lake City, FL; two sisters: Mattie (Jimmie) Herring and Lela (Dean) Wilson, Live Oak, FL; one uncle: Johnny Grimmage, Live Oak, FL; two aunts: Mattie Bowen, Homerville, GA, Barnetta Roundtree, Live Oak, FL; A host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. The family will meet and greet friends Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 from 5 to 7 pm at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 1009 5th St., Live Oak, FL. Francis Joseph McGrath, 70, passed away Aug. 31, 2012 in the VA Hospital, Gainesville, Florida, following a short illness.
Mr. McGrath was born in Camden, New Jersey July 7, 1942 and moved to the Branford area in 2010 from Miami. He attended Archbishop Curley High School. He was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam era. Devoted over five decades of loyal service to the Boy Scouts of America, retired with 20 years of service with the US Postal Service. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 29 in Miami and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife Maxine McGrath; daughter, Misty Christine White; sister, Verna Elizabeth Poirson’ sister-in-law, Valerie Ruth Hrasar; brother, Lawrence Martin McGrath; brother-in-law, John Lawrence Hrasar and three grandchildren, Angela, Emily and Magan.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. in San Juan de La Cruz Catholic Mission, Branford, Fla. Additional services will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at 5 p.m. in St. Richards Catholic Church, 7500 SW 52 Street, Palmetto Bay, Miami, FL

Ella M. Fillyaw, 86, Orlando, Fl passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 after a long illness. The Warren, Ohio native moved to Orlando four months ago from O’Brien, Fl and was of Methodist Faith. Mrs. Fillyaw is survived by her daughter: Carol Nabors, Columbus, Ohio; two sons: Larry Abbuhl, Orlando, Fl, Russell Abbuhl, Orlando, Fl twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Grave side services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 23rd at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. David Froesch officiating.

Leone Nutter Weisenborn Protsman passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012, at the age of 96. She was living in Thomasville, Georgia, and was a resident of Camelia Gardens. Leone was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on March 31, 1916, but had lived in Florida and Georgia for the past several decades. She is survived by her sons, David and his wife Janet of Athens, Georgia and Steve and his wife Wilma, of Thomasville; 4 grandchildren: Lori Fyffe of Augusta, Georgia; Steve Weisenborn II of Thomasville; Mike Weisenborn of Watkinsville, Georgia; and Beth Anne Brooks of Marietta, Georgia; and their families. There are 9 great-grandchildren. Leone is also survived by her sister, Wilma Raye Schiering of Beavercreek, Ohio, and by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Her first husband, Carl Weisenborn, passed away in 1960 and her brother, E. J. Nutter from Xenia, Ohio, also predeceased her. After graduating from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Ohio, Leone received her RN degree and worked as a private duty nurse, a hospital nurse, and then as the school nurse at Fairfield, Ohio, High School. She moved to Madison, Florida, and became the Director of the Student Union and College Nurse at North Florida Junior College in 1962, where she remained until the early 1970s. She returned to college and graduated from Ashland College in Ashland, Ohio, in 1972, earning a B.A. in Sociology. She was married to Norman Protsman from 1969 until his death in 2009. They resided in Live Oak for most of their marriage. They traveled widely, were active in their church and in the community, supported the Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park and the Florida Sheriff's Boys' Ranch. Leone was also a member of the DAR, and a past member of the Live Oak Women's Club. They both supported North Florida Community College, and donated the Norman O. and Leone N. Protsman Bell Tower to the campus in 1992. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Florida Sheriff's Boys' Ranch, P.O. Box 2000, Live Oak. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Daniels Funeral Homes in Live Oak, with the service planned for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22nd at Daniels Memorial Chapel followed by burial at the Live Oak Cemetery.
