Semis crash in Jasper

Two semi trucks overturned after colliding at the intersection of CR 141 and CR 152 in Jennings Monday morning, resulting in critical injuries to one of the drivers, the Florida Highway Patrol reported

Authorities say Rhonda M. Cockerham failed to stop as she approached CR 141 while traveling east on CR 152 at about 9:10. As she crossed the intersection, Cockerham's semi the left side of another semi, driven my Edwin F. Baez, who was northbound on CR 141. Cockerham's semi spun counter clockwise and overturned onto its right side as the semi slid across both lanes of CR 152, according to FHP. Baez's semi also spun counter clockwise before overturning on CR 152, spilling its load onto the east shoulder of the road.

Rhonda M. Cockerham was critically injured. Her passenger, Elzie Cockerham, was also seriously injured. Both were life flighted to Shands at UF. Baez was seriously injured and transported to South Georgia Medical Center.

Charges are pending, said FHP.
