By Ira Mikell, Free Press Reporter

The unbeaten Hornets got their first district win Friday, defeating the Trenton Tigers 47-12 in Mayo.

Hornets head coach Joey Pearson was pleased with the way his team played.

“We were happy to get our first district win versus Trenton,” Pearson said.

Friday, Oct. 3, the Hornets (4-0) will face the Chiefland Indians at home at 7:30 p.m.

Pearson said he believes Chiefland will be a tough challenge for his team.

“They are 3-1 and are having a good year,” he said. “They have a lot of good skilled players.”

Sergio Perez had seven carries for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Nick Bracewell completed seven of 13 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns.

Casey Brewer also scored, and Trent Frier and Alan Driver recorded their first career touchdowns against Trenton.
