It is not too late and for some a bit early as to their Christmas lists and wishes. The Gators want a National Championship. Joe Giardi wants a Yankee World Series win or a great severance package. Roger Clemens wants to be believed. Michael Vick and O.J. want get out of jail free cards. The Mets ownership wants a pennant and a pound of Madoff's flesh. Joe Paterno wants Bobby Bowden to retire. Bobby Bowden wants Joe Paterno to retire. These are but a few of the wants. How about the I-already-gots.
Frankie Rodriguez got $37 million and C.C. Sabathia got $140 million. A Rod got Madonna, was he naughty or nice? The N.Y. Giants got some respect. The Phillies got a World Series and the fans off their backs for six months. The Rays got what was probably the biggest early Christmas present of all. As the bowls unfold and the playoffs begin we will find out who was good for the holidays.
As for those of you who want to make Tom's Christmas bright, I can give you suggestions. Money is perhaps a bit crass and personal but lottery tickets are just fine, I'm all about furthering education through gambling. And if you like to bake forget about the sugar cookies and fruit cakes, if your going to bake for me a nice Virginia ham will be fine. My list of wants also includes a good football coach for Suwannee.
For all my readers I hope Santa or the Steinbrenners or the BCS makes your Christmas a happy one.
"... On Pacman, on Belichick, on Spurrier on Call, up, up and away on the way to the Mall." As the guy in the red suit left really, really fast, he looked through his reading glasses and gave out a laugh. "I read your stuff, it's really ... well ... do me a favor and learn how spell." I thought it was Santa with a brow full of ridges, what a bummer, it was just Robert Bridges.
I hope "ya all" have a Merry Christmas and to all a good night.
