Two Live Oak residents were arrested early Friday in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old at a local mobile home park, say Live Oak police.
The victim, shot in the left thigh, was transported to Shands Live Oak then transferred to a Gainesville-area hospital. According to a press release from the Live Oak Police Department, the injury did not appear life threatening.
Police say that a confrontation occurred sometime earlier between two groups of people at the victim’s residence at Live Oak Pines Mobile Home Park, lot 30. The groups left but later returned, at which point a fight broke out and shots were fired.
A search by members of the LOPD, Suwannee County sheriff’s deputies and K-9 units from Hamilton Correctional Institution led to the arrest of two suspects.
Juan Urbina-Gutierrez, 29, of 1405 177th St., was arrested Friday on charges of attempted second-degree murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and tampering with evidence, according to Live Oak Police. Urbana, whom police say is an undocumented alien, is being held at the county jail.
Brandi Arellano, 20, of 1405 E. Duval St., lot 22, was also arrested Friday as a principal to first- or second-degree attempted murder and resisting an officer without violence. Police say Arellano provided Urbina a means of fleeing the scene and aided in disposing of the firearm. She is also being held in the county jail.
A Live Oak man formerly wanted in connection with the shooting, Jose Fuentes, age unknown, of 1405 E. Duval St., lot 30, was a witness to the crime, not a participant, Live Oak police now say.
