A new classroom building at Suwannee Middle School is near completion, according to school officials.
"We're shooting for substantial completion by July 15 and final completion around July 30," said Mark Carver, maintenance director for Suwannee County schools back in June. The new building will house 10 classrooms.
Internet technology installations have been made throughout the building, and the facility's climate control system is up and running.
Once trade work is finished such as electrical wiring, Carver said floor work will be completed. The building will be lined with vinyl composite tile, he said.
Stucco and other exterior finishes have been applied to the outside of the building to help complete its look.
When students return to school in August, Carver said the building will be ready for use.
An open house event is set for the first week in August, said SMS Principal Norri Steele.
