A 43-year-old Live Oak man was charged with domestic battery by
strangulation on his wife Thursday after an argument between the two.
LOPD Sgt. Larry Rogers was dispatched to the residence of Alvin Dewayne
Jones and his wife at 518 Lincoln Avenue in response to a domestic
disturbance at 7:15 a.m. Once on scene reports say Rogers met the wife who
reported that Jones had grabbed and choked her during an argument that morning.
Reports state Jones told the wife he was leaving after she
allegedly accused him of cheating on him. She states they began arguing over
the ownership of a vehicle the two owned, say reports. The wife told Rogers
that was when Jones grabbed her by the neck, squeezing and telling her that
she is crazy. After he let go, Jones reportedly got into the vehicle and
left, but was spotted by the wife walking back toward the residence while
Rogers was interviewing her.
Jones reportedly denied the strangulation, telling Rogers his wife "snapped
on him" and "she went off the deep end," say reports. Jones said they only
argued over the ownership of the vehicle after which he drove away and
parked the vehicle at a friend's house about four blocks from the Lincoln
Avenue residence.
Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Suwannee County Jail.
