POLICE BEAT: Rash of burglaries strikes Lafayette County

By Stephenie Livingston

Lafayette County has seen a rash of burglaries over the past two weeks, and county law enforcement are actively searching for those responsible. So far eight residents and one business have been targeted. At least one suspect is believed to be between 18 and 20 years of age.

Stolen items include jewelry, cash and coins. All items stolen are untraceable, suggesting the criminals are experienced, according to Lafayette County Sheriff Brian Lamb.

For now, suspects are on the loose and businesses and residents are encouraged by law enforcement to take any and all security measures. "Lock your doors," said lamb.

If you have any information concerning these crimes contact the Lafayette Sheriff's Office at 386-284-1222.
