Suwannee County, under the coordination of Emergency Management, will hold a county wide safety preparedness expo from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday, May 17 in Exhibition II building next to the Suwannee County Coliseum.
The goal is to get as many organizations and businesses involved as possible in order to aide in the proper training for our citizens enabling them to be better prepared for all types of disaster situations. With your assistance, this expo will be a huge success!
Suwannee Valley Community Emergency Response Team (SVCERT) is accepting donations for door prizes, so if you would like to make a donation you may contact Chad Mason, SVCERT Program Coordinator by e-mail at SVCERTcoordinator@windstream.net or you may call the Emergency Management office at 386-364-3405 for more information. The plan is to have only one entrance to the expo to give out drawing tickets and will pull from these tickets every 10 – 15 minutes, depending on how many items are donated. Each item donated will have a paper attached stating who the item was donated by and will also be announced live on the radio.
A poster contest for second through fifth grade open to the students in our county schools, private schools and to those being home schooled is underway. Prizes will be awarded to safety poster contest winners during the expo.
Thank you for your support.
