LETTER TO THE EDITOR - Oct. 30

To the Editor:

Every time I read the Rant & Rave section of the paper, someone is always complaining about our county being a dry county. Well I think that instead of complaining so much we should talk about something great about Suwannee County and that would be the handicapped teacher and para pro at Suwannee High School, Candy Vickers and Terri Johnson. These ladies are amazing! They not only give to their students Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., but they go above and beyond what is required of them.

My son has Down syndrome and not only have they taught him to read, something we never thought possible. But he can also speak sign language, something he comes home and shares with us, his parents, and his sisters. These ladies give their time on the weekends to take my son and their class to camp, they go on field trips and rent the pool over the summer for a pool party to see the kids and spend time with them because they miss them when they're not there. If only our schools were filled with more great teachers like these two ladies. Then maybe people would be so busy helping their children fill out college applications that they wouldn't have time to be concerned about getting a beer.

Sincerely,

Sherry Wolfe
