The Hamilton County High Trojans basketball team had a solid week, winning their second and third games of the season. The first win was in Dixie County and the second game was at home over the Suwannee High Bulldogs.

HAMILTON 64 DIXIE 49
The Trojans started the week off early having to travel to Cross City to take on the Dixie County Bears. Both teams came into the game 1-0 and it was a battle between the inexperienced Trojans and the senior-laden Bears. Dixie had 11 seniors on their team.
Hamilton wasn't intimidated as they jumped out to an early lead and never trailed. In fact, the score never got closer than 7 points and that was at the end of the third quarter. From there, the Trojans increased their lead to go on to win impressively 64-49.
The Trojans had three players scoring in double figures for the night. Junior forward Vincent Bailey led all scorers with 24 points. Seniors TI'Wan Cooks and junior Courtney McCloud each had 10 points.
Other HCHS scorers included Anthony Ingram (6), Jacaris Stubbs (5), K.C. Coffee (5), Robert Davis (3), and Eric McClain (1).
The Trojans out-rebounded the Bears 52-34 on the night and were led in boards by Vincent Bailey's 14.
Other Trojans with rebounds included 3 players with 7 boards each: Ti'Wan Cooks, Anthony Ingram, and Robert Davis. Courtney McCloud and Jacaris Stubbs each had 5 rebounds. Eric McClain grabbed 3 boards. Jalen Strickland had 2 rebounds. O.J. Newsome and Wesley Oliver each had 1 board.
HCHS had 18 assists for the night as a team and was led in that category by Anthony Ingram's 8 dimes. Cooks also had 6 assists.
Anthony Ingram also led the team in steals with 4. Bailey and Stubbs each chipped in 3 steals.
Courtney McCloud, Wesley Oliver, and Vincent Bailey helped lead the Trojans in blocked shots as they each had 2 rejections.
It was a total team effort and Coach Murphy was extremely pleased with the win over a tough team in a tough place to play.

HAMILTON 70 SUWANNEE 51
On Saturday night, HCHS played host to rival Suwannee County High School to take on the Bulldogs. Hamilton's gym was packed with people ready for the big game.
Both teams started out slowly with the Bulldogs drawing first blood on an Alex Fountain layup. Vincent Bailey scored the first 2 points for HCHS on a putback that tied the game at 2. Anthony Ingram came back down after a Suwannee miss and canned a three pointer from the top of the key giving the Trojans their first lead. They would never trail from that point. The rest of the quarter was competitive and hard fought with the Bulldogs' Fountain scoring all 14 of his team's points. He seemed not to be able to miss. Hamilton was able to overcome that, though, and take a 21-14 lead into the second quarter.
The second quarter was highlighted by strong play by the Hamilton bench. Wesley Oliver delivered two big three point shots to help lead the charge as the Trojans took a comfortable 14 point lead into halftime.
Suwannee again scored the first 2 points of the half to start the second half as they scored on an offensive rebound and layup to make the score 40-28 Hamilton. However, HCHS went on a stunning 17-0 run over the next 5 minutes to effectively distance themselves from the Bulldogs and cruise to victory from there. Final score was Hamilton 70 Suwannee 51.
Vincent Bailey led Hamilton in scoring with 25 points. The only other Trojan scoring in double figures was Ti'Wan Cooks, who had 11 points on the night. A lot of Trojans scored. They were as follows: Wesley Oliver (7); Anthony Ingram (7); Robert Davis (5); Eric McClain (5); O.J. Newsome (2); Courtney McCloud (2); Walter Jones (2); Jacaris Stubbs (2); and K.C. Coffee.
HCHS out-rebounded the Bulldogs 67-48 and was led by Vincent Bailey's 21 boards. This was the third consecutive double-double for Bailey to start the year. Every player for the Trojans had at least 1 rebound. Senior Jacaris Stubbs also had 9 rebounds and Wesley Oliver and Eric McClain both came off the bench to grab 7 boards. Anthony Ingram and K.C. Coffee each had 5 rebounds. Courtney McCloud and Ti'Wan Cooks both added 4 boards apiece for the Trojans. Robert Davis grabbed 2 rebounds and Jalen Strickland, O.J. Newsome, and Walter Jones each had 1 board.

There was a block party for the Trojans on Saturday night and it was led by Junior forward Wesley Oliver who had 7 blocked shots. The Trojans had 12 rejections in the game.
So the Trojans finished the week having won their first 3 games of the season. The inexperienced group is really playing hard to start the year.
Hamilton has a tough week ahead as they travel to Statenville Tuesday night to take on the Echols County Wildcats. They then return home to face Class 6A Columbia High Friday night and district rival and defending champ Florida High Saturday night. Please come out and support the running Trojans.
