Jamia Jackson of Lake City and Jazmine Fenlator of Wayne, NJ, teamed together for a silver medal performance in the Cesana Pariol, Italy Europa Cup competition last month.

“Jamia’s silver medal in Cesana was an unbelievable finish,” women’s bobsled assistant coach Bill Tavares said. “We weren’t surprised, and we’re excited to watch both Jamia and Jazmine continue to improve this season.”

After a short stint as a push athlete, Jackson moved into the driver’s seat and claimed the 2007 America’s Cup title, while this is only Fenlator’s first year on the team.

The American duo pushed a solid 5.56 start time for the third fastest run of the second heat, a 58.81. Pushing a consistent 5.57 start time in the second heat, Jackson drove the team to the fastest time of the second run of 59.11 seconds, for a combined time of 1:57.92 to claim the silver medal.

Last week in St. Moritz, Switzerland, in her second World Cup event, Jackson piloted USA III into seventh position after the first heat with a time of 1:08.89 seconds. Jackson teamed with first year brakewoman Mickie Rzepka for a push time of 5.79 seconds. In the second heat, Jackson and Rzepka pushed a 5.84 for a run of 1:09.41. Jackson drove the team to a two-run total of 2:18.30 for an eighth place finish.
