Pickup recovered 9 minutes after it was reported stolen

Live Oak woman arrested

By Jo Ross, Reporter

JASPER - A pickup truck allegedly stolen from a local gas station was recovered by law enforcement officers just nine minutes after the theft was reported.

The truck, a 1995 Ford owned by Angela Cohen of Jasper, was reported stolen from Munchies convenience store on North US 41 at 3:14 p.m. Friday, according to police reports.

Cohen pulled up to the store’s gas pumps and entered the store, at which point a Live Oak woman, Kristy Renee Jennings, 28, of 612 N. Ohio Avenue, allegedly drove it away without permission.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Investigator Karen Williams located the vehicle at the gas pumps at the Fast Track gas station at the intersection of I-75 and US 129 at 3:23 p.m.

Jennings was taken into custody and charged with grand theft. During a search of Jennings’ purse, marijuana was discovered, say authorities, and Jennings was additionally charged with possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis.

The truck was released to the owner at the scene.

Police say video surveillance cameras at Munchies show Jennings entering the pickup and driving away.

Jennings was released after posting a $2,000 bond, records show.
