A phone call from a confidential source to a deputy led to a high-speed chase and the recovery of a stolen truck on Wednesday, May 7, according to a report from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. Kristie Diana Walker, 26, and James Travis Livingston, 36, both of 339 Hwy. 94 E, Statenville, Ga. were arrested and charged with dealing in stolen property.
The caller told the deputy a man and a woman were trying to sell a stolen Ford truck and toolbox, the report states. As the deputy was responding to the call, he saw the bronze colored truck traveling south on CR 152. When he attempted to stop the truck, Walker, who was driving, refused to stop, say authorities.
A second deputy was traveling north on CR 152, when Walker almost hit his vehicle head-on, according to the report. Both deputies continued pursuit as Walker turned on NW 13th Dr., which is a dirt road, reaching speeds of approximately 55 to 60 miles per hour.
Walker turned onto CR 143, driving recklessly in all the lanes with speeds up to 75 miles per hour, the report states. She then locked the brakes causing the first deputy to hit the rear end of the truck. She continued to CR 146, where she turned and locked the brakes again, according to the report. The first deputy again struck the rear end of the truck, causing it to spin out and wreck.
The deputies advised Walker, as well as Livingston, who was a passenger in the truck, of their Miranda rights, according to the report. She reportedly said she and Livingstone had stolen the truck from Statenville and then went to Bellville and sold the toolbox off the truck. Livingstone said he did not steal the truck but he knew it was stolen and they were selling the toolbox for drugs, the report states.
The toolbox was recovered and placed in the truck, according to the report.
Walker was also charged with driving while license suspended/revoked and careless driving, according to the report. They are being held in the Hamilton County Jail for the Echols County Sheriff's Office.
