It was a great day for Hayward Lodge No. 45 F & A M. Thirteen men were made master masons at a ceremony conducted May 9 at Barrett Lodge No. 43 in Live Oak. The event was a joint project between Hayward Lodge No. 45, Barrett Lodge No. 43 and John M. Caldwell Lodge No. 70 of Jasper. Masons from other lodges in the area were also present for this important event.
This class is unique in several ways. There were brothers, Richard and Andrew Daugherty who also happened to be the youngest, a father and son, Michael (Roundman) Warner and Michael Caylon Warner. The oldest newly made mason was 87-year-old Robert Hollenbeck. Eight were from Hayward Lodge, four from Barrett Lodge and one from John M. Caldwell Lodge.
