Youth Advocacy Partnership recognizes local youth

The Youth Advocacy Partnership of Suwannee County recognized deserving young people at its 2008 Youth Recognition ceremony at the Live Oak Church of God fellowship hall recently.


Here are some of the recipients:

Rising Star Award — presented to Laura Kaitlyn Boatright by Live Oak mayor Garth E. Nobles.

Youth Character Awards — presented to Kyle Courtney, Ben Glass, Brent Kebby and Clark Smith by Hal Chaffee, abstinence coordinator, Suwannee County Health Department.

Community Service Awards — presented to Kyla Bispham, Summer Boyd, Jeanette Michael and Brittney McLean by Julie Ulmer, chairperson, Suwannee County School Board.

Determination Awards - presented to Colin Smith, Sharod Jenkins, Adrian Hedstrom and Quinton Swader by Bill Brothers, Director of Personnel of Suwannee County Schools.

Mentor Awards - presented to Kyla Bispham, Jamie Alvarado and Cody Clarkson by Hillary Cannon, director, Suwannee Foundation for Excellence in Education.

Courage to Speak Awards - presented to Sammi Harmon, Rusty Grinnell, Barbara Cody, Tyler Jordan, Jessica McCullers, Tyler Townsend and Caleb Wynn by Margaret Wooley, Safe and Drug Free Schools coordinator.

Senior Leadership Awards — presented to Nick Henderson, Brandon Nobles, Zahir Roberts and Chelsea Young by Dawn Lamb, principal, Suwannee High School.

Compassion Award - presented to Jacob Kerr by Wayne Godsmark, pastor, Christ Central Ministries.

Initiative Award - presented to Aspen Bond by Norri Steele, principal, Suwannee Middlke School.

Perseverance Award - presented to Robert Cody Pressley by Suwannee County Sheriff Tony Cameron.
Youth in Action Award - presented to Tori Henderson by Joe Flanagan, chairman, United Way, Suwannee Valley chapter.

Diligence Award - presented to Angela Rodriguez by Carla Blalock, chairperson, Suwannee Drug Free Coalition.

Entertainment was provided by the Melody Christian Academy Sign Language Group:
Paige Rodriquez, Alyssa Rodriguez, Elizabeth Irizarry, Jamilee Henderson, Melanie Daniels and Valerie Baker.
