UPDATE: 2 hurt in US 27 crash

A Lafayette County collision between a big rig and a pickup sent both drivers to the hospital Thursday morning.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Lovett Brasby, 70, of Perry was eastbound on US 27 at about 9:30 when he attempted a left turn into Mayo Correctional Institution. Brasby’s 2007 Chevrolet was struck by a westbound 2000 Mack semi driven by Reba B. Ward, 57, of Mayo. The impact caused the semi to overturn.
Brasby, whom troopers say failed to yield the right-of-way when making the turn, was lifeflighted to Shands UF. Ward was treated and released at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Perry, reports show.
