Lafayette County: Election qualifying ended

Qualifying for candidates wishing to run for local offices in the upcoming election ended Friday, June 20 at noon. The last day to register to vote in the August primary is Monday, July 28, when books will close.

According to the Lafayette County Supervisor of Elections Office, the following people have qualified for each of the local offices up for election this year:

County Commission District 2

Kevin Barrington (D) 

Gail Garrard (D) (incumbent)

Thomas E. "Boogie" Pridgeon (D)

Donald Becton (R) 

County Commission District 4 

Jack Everette Byrd (D)

Michael Harris (D) 

Martha Drew Humphries (D) 

Anthony Adams (R)

School Board District 1 (Nonpartisan)

Darren Driver (incumbent)

School Board District 3 (Nonpartisan)

Marion McCray

Timothy Pearson (incumbent)

Lindsey Thomas

School Board District 5 (Nonpartisan)
