The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs will host a series of animal folklore and wisdom workshops. A butterfly workshop will be held from 6-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20 in Nelly Bly’s Kitchen. Future workshops topics include turtle, horse, wolf and owl. Each workshop will have a different art project geared toward any skill level. North Florida Community College (NFCC) Art Department invites the public to view its current exhibit featuring works by local artist Marshall Norris. The Florida Highway Patrol will conduct driver’s license and vehicle inspection checkpoints through Nov. 28 on Brown Road, CR 252, CR 252-A, CR 252-B, CR 25-A, SR 47, SR 341, US 441, US 41, CR 245, CR 238, CR 135, Turner Road, SR 100, Trotter’s Road, Fairfield Farms Road, CR 250, CR 349, SR 247 and SR 25 in Columbia County; CR 132, CR 136, CR 136-A, CR 137, CR 249, CR 250, CR 252, CR 349, CR 49, CR 795, SR 20, SR 247, SR 10, SR 51, US 129 and Mitchell Road in Suwannee County; and CR 136, CR 152, CR 143, CR 249, CR 137, CR 251, CR 146, CR 135, CR 141, CR 150, CR 145 and US 41, SR 6, SR 25 in Hamilton County. Recognizing the danger presented to the public by defective vehicle equipment, troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated with defects such as bad brakes, worn tires and defective lighting equipment. In addition, attention will be directed to drivers who would violate the driver license laws of Florida. The Patrol has found these checkpoints to be an effective means of enforcing the equipment and driver’s license laws of Florida while ensuring the protection of all motorists.
