JV Bucs take Bronson 54-51

Clutch free throws by Marcus Lane and Jimmy Taylor and a two point basket by Max Lambert in the warning seconds of the junior varsity Bucs game with Bronson lifted the Bucs to a 54-51 victory. The crowd was already pumped up following a one point victory by the varsity girls over Bronson. It was the JV's fifth win of the season against some opponents playing mostly freshman and sophomores. Branford team according to the roster list seventh and eighth graders and only two ninth graders.

The two leading scorers on the JV team are young, Jimmy Taylor, a seventh grader is leading his team on the season with 275 points in 14 games thus far this season for a 19.5 per game average. Another youngster Marcus Lane, an eighth grader is averaging 13 points per game with 182 points in 14 games.

The JV's most recent win was over Bronson last Friday night. In the teams first game with Bronson earlier in the season the Bucs lost 35-48 on the road. They have recorded victories over Trenton, Mayo, Aucilla and Bronson this season.

Members of the team are: Danny Johnson, ninth grade; Jimmy Taylor, seventh grade; Alex Robinson, eighth grade; Timmy Hammond, ninth grade; Marcus Lane, eighth grade; Clif Register, seventh grade; Max Lambert, eighth grade; Noah Taylor, eighth grade; Jarvis George, seventh grade; Kyle Stebbins, seventh grade; and Shaquille Williams.

Leading scorers against Bronson were Lane with 18; Taylor 14; Lambert 10; Johnston 6; Hammond 2 and Robinson 5.

Coach Tony Adkins said, "seventh grader Jarvis George is not scoring a lot of points, but he is playing a lot of minutes and is contributing big to the team. We are a real young team, and the boys practice and play hard. They are a good group to work with."

Games remaining on the Bucs schedule are Lafayette in Mayo Friday, Jan. 25 and Aucilla Christian away, Jan. 28.
