Suwannee River Riding Club Rodeo

The 47th annual Suwannee River Riding Club Rodeo will be held Friday, September 19 and 20 at the Branford arena located on Highway 129 north. The rodeo will begin each night at 8 p.m.

The event is presented by Flying G Rodeo Company, World Wide Rodeo Association, Gernie Geiger.

Rodeo clown act this year will be Hollywood Harris sponsored by Barnes Pine Straw.

Major sponsors for the rodeo are: S & S Food Stores and Scaff's Supermarket. Friday night's sponsor is North Florida Pharmacy in Branford. Saturday night's sponsor is Suwannee American Cement in Branford.

This year's event sponsors are: Junior Bull Riding/Bull Riding- S & S; Breakaway Roping/ Calf roping- Bailey's Farm Center of Lake City; Calf Scramble- Gator Motors of Perry; Team Roping- Triple B Farms in McAlpin; Chute Dogging- Apparel Art & Embroidery of Branford next to Branford Hardware; Junior Barrels (age 12 and under)/Barrels- Walt's Live Oak Ford-Mercury.

Chute Sponsors this year are: Daniels Veterinarian Services of O'Brien; Santa Fe Ford of Alachua; Suwannee Valley Enterprises of Lake City; Wes Haney Chevrolet of Live Oak. Stripping Chute Sponsor- Chuck Wagon Cattle Company; Display Clock Sponsor- Security Safe Company.

The annual rodeo parade is scheduled for Saturday, September 20 at 5 p.m. Lineup will be at 4 p.m. at the Branford Feed Mill. The Grand Marshals for the parade are Raymon and Annette Land. They will be in a horse and carriage driven by Doris O'Brien, owner of Ms. Bud For You. They are members of the Florida Cattleman Association, National Angus Association, Florida and National Cutting Horse Association and the Suwannee River Riding Club. Annette was chosen "Woman of the Year In Agriculture" for Florida this year, a prestigious award. Anyone interested in participating in the parade should contact Teresa Bullock at 386-776-1230.

On Saturday night, September 20, the rodeo queen and Jr Miss will be crowned at intermission by the reigning Rodeo Queen Jennifer Peurrung and the reigning Junior Miss Candice Summers. The queen contest is being sponsored by Raymon and Annette Land of Land Brokerage Realtor and Land Truck Brokers.

Raffle prizes this year are: 1st prize- Remington 870-12 gauge shotgun donated by Southern Sportsman Gun and Pawn of Live Oak and Chiefland; 2nd prize 25" Magnavox TV donated by Badcock of Branford and Live Oak; 3rd prize- Fish Cooker with basket, potato slicer and seasonings donated by Suburban Propane of Branford. All prizes will be given away at intermission Saturday night. You do not have to be present to win, so see a member of the riding club and get a ticket. They will also be available at the rodeo, Friday and Saturday.

Local Suwannee River Riding Club members will be participating in the rodeo.

The community is invited to come on out for a weekend of great entertainment.
