SRRC Rodeo this weekend

The 50th annual Suwannee River Riding Club Rodeo is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29 and 30. The rodeo will begin at 8 p.m. each evening at the riding club arena located on Highway 129, two miles north of Branford.

Scaff's Markets are the major sponsor, with Suwannee American Cement sponsoring the Friday night activities, and Lee's Custom Service sponsoring the Saturday night events.

A parade is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. Line up at Buccaneer Stadium at 4 p.m. Parade theme is The Old West. The Ross Brothers (Bubba and Bill) will be honored as grand marshals. A prize of $25 will be presented to the best dressed cowboy or cowgirl in the parade. A $50 prize will be given to the most original Old West float.

Each night at the rodeo the best western dressed "Little Cowpoke" contest will be held.

There will be team roping, barrels, calf scramble, steer wrestling, calf roping, a clown specialty act, and much more.

A Rodeo Queen and JR Miss that was chosen on Saturday, Sept. 23 will be crowned at half time of the Saturday night performance.
