Clark is new president of town council

By Jeff Waters, Democrat Reporter

District 4 Councilwoman Shirley Clark was voted in as the new council president for the town of Branford Tuesday, while newly elected Ken Saunders was sworn in to fill the post of retiring District 1 councilman and council president Joe Cannon.

District 3 Councilman Charlie Daniel was elected vice-president of the council.

Councilman Matt Burns and Councilwoman Alice Childress were sworn in to serve four more years. Council members' terms, formerly two years, were lengthened to four years as the result of a recent referendum.

Also taking office again was Mayor Don Owens, who will serve four years.
