A fire which broke out at Branford High School Tuesday may have been the result of arson, authorities say. "We will treat this as a crime scene," Sheriff Tony Cameron said shortly after the blaze was extinguished. "There is a good possibility this is arson." No injuries were reported. Damage reports were unavailable at press time.
When Suwannee County Fire/Rescue units arrived at BHS shortly before noon, black smoke was pouring from a door at the northeast corner of Building Five, which houses classrooms.
All buildings at the school were evacuated as students watched from a distance.
