Miss Katelyn Breanna Kelley, a Branford High School senior, was crowned Miss BHS during pageant ceremonies Saturday night at the school auditorium.
Five beautiful and talented young women competed for the 2008-09 title. First runner up was Miss Reanna McKenzie, and Miss Rebecca Wilder was voted Miss Congeniality by the contestants. The audience choice went to Jerrica Throop.
The new Miss BHS is the daughter of Kevin and Anna Kelley. Her two brothers, Kyle and Kaleb, were on hand to see their sister receive her crown from the reigning Miss BHS, Kristyn Lynch.
Contestants were judged in the following categories: private interview, casual attire, talent and evening gown. In the talent competition Katelyn performed a dance and twirl routine to "Let's Dance."
Among the prizes presented to the winner was a $500 scholarship donated by Suwannee American Cement.
The pageant theme was "A Red Carpet Affair," produced by the BHS Student Council.
Mistresses of ceremonies were Rikki Klaus, Miss Heart of Suwannee River Valley, and Megan O'Kelley, Miss Suwannee River Valley.
Following graduation the end of May Katelyn will attend the University of Florida where she will pursue a degree in medicine.
