TAX COLLECTOR’S EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH THEFT

Live Oak woman allegedly stole more than $3,000

By Jeff Waters, Democrat Reporter

An administrative assistant at the Suwannee County Tax Collector's office has been charged with stealing more than $3,000 from the agency.

According to Suwannee County sheriff’s reports, Kelly Ryan Joyner, 28, of 507 Suwannee Avenue, Live Oak, took the money in nine or so increments between March 13, 2007 and Sept. 18, 2008.

Police say Joyner has confessed to most of the thefts and has since returned more than $1,000 to the tax collector’s office.

Joyner, who had worked at the office for about four years, was arrested Dec. 31 and charged with grand theft III. She was booked into the Suwannee County Jail but later posted bond.
