Another outstanding new addition to the Trojans staff was recently added with the hiring of Patrick Murphy as the Athletic Director.

Murphy made his initial debut at a scheduled coaches' meeting. He made clear to the coaches that he was there for them and went over FHSAA rules about sportsmanship, pride and respect. He asked the coaches to make these priorities. He feels that the athletes should be the best students in the school, and expects them to be leaders on and off the fields.

Murphy graduated from Hamilton County High School in 1996 and achieved his college degree from Valdosta State.

Murphy has coached mainly at the middle school level. He coached basketball at Bay Minette, Alabama. He then traveled to Brunswick, Georgia to coach soccer. Getting back to Florida, he coached basketball and baseball at Madison County. Murphy has also taught at Clay County and Starke where he was a youth pastor.

Murphy brings his wife Sally back to his roots of Jasper to fulfill the athletic director responsibilities. He brings a lot of energy and new ideas to Jasper with the purpose of bringing respect back to the athletic program so that opponents will want to come to Jasper to compete.

Principal Starr is very proud of his selection which was very apparent at the coaches' meeting. Those that have had the opportunity to meet with the new athletic director are certainly impressed with his energy, determination. His charisma makes him fun to talk to which the athletes and coaches both concur with.
