Suwannee Bulldog tennis won its second shut out of the season with a 7-0 win over Godby. Earlier in the week, the Dog tennis team shut out Taylor 8-0.

Lady Dog tennis also scored a shut out victory over the Godby girls 7-0.

John Janousek led off for the Dogs in the Number One position. Janousek tied 8-8 then won in the tie-breaker 9-7. Janousek was down 1-6 and came back to win.

In the Number Two slot for the Dogs, Ben Walker won his match 8-2. In the Number Three position, Tim Simpson won 8-4. Number Four Justin Budwick won 8-4 and in the Number Five slot, Royce Peaden won 8-6.

The girls were led by Mary Nims in the Number One singles position. Nims won her match 8-3. Nims came from behind 1-3 and won the next seven straight games.

In the Number Two slot for the girls, Emily Graham won 8-5. Number Three Kellsey Sellgren won 8-1. Christian Wooley shut her Number Four opponent out 8-0 and in the Number Five slot, Prissy Crapps won 8-1.

The boys won both of their doubles matches. The Number One team of Janousek and Justin Ortega won 8-5 and the Number Two doubles team of Budwick and Simpson won 8-4.

In doubles play, the girls won both of their matches. The Number One Doubles team of Nims and Sellgren won 8-2 and the Number Two doubles team of Wooley and Chelsea Oxendine won 8-1.

This puts the Suwannee Lady Dog tennis team at 1-1 in district play this season.

On Feb. 19, the Dogs took on Bradford and lost in a close match 3-4.

Janousek won his Number One match 8-1. Simpson in the Number Two slot lost 4-8 and in the Number Three slot, Budwick lost 5-8.

Royce Peaden lost in the Number Four slot 1-8 and Justin Ortega lost in the Number Five slot 0-8.

The Dogs won both doubles matches. Number One doubles duo Janousek and Peaden won 8-6 and Budwick and Simpson won 8-4.

These three early games put the Dogs 2-0 in district play and 2-1 over all for the season.

The Dogs will be playing on their home court March 12 against Godby. This is a district match. Tennis starts at 3:30 p.m. Go Dogs!
