The Suwannee Saddles and Spurs Riding Club will kick its new year off with a first meeting at the Live Oak Coliseum Bob Holmes rodeo arena on Saturday, Jan. 10. Saddles and Spurs holds speed events such as pole bending and barrel racing on the second and fourth Saturday nights of each month. Members accumulate points during these events for awards at the end of the year.
Saddles and Spurs recently held their annual king and queen contest, electing Wyatt Sasser as King and Jessica Estrella was elected Queen. Both contestants had to compete for the honor. They were judged on their character and their horsemanship ability. Sasser and Estrella will carry the flag at many rodeo events in Suwannee County, ride in parades and help the club in every way they can.
So if you'd like to join the riding club or just want to watch fast horses, kids and adults having fun, come out Saturday night. The action begins at 8 p.m.
