On Saturday, Feb. 5, Suwannee County Sheriff's Deputy Bobby Akey arrested Richard Larry Gaskins, 52, 26475 CR 137, O'Brien. Gaskins was charged with domestic violence, battery, and sexual battery upon a child, according to a press release from the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. Deputy Akey was dispatched to a residence in O'Brien to investigate a domestic disturbance. After talking to the parties involved he determined that Gaskins had gotten into an argument earlier with a family member regarding him sexually battering a 14-year-old female. He allegedly hit the family member in the mouth several times. When another family member came to her rescue Gaskins also allegedly hit him in the face. The deputy observed the family member had a reddening on her cheek and the man who came to her rescue had a bloody lip and slight abrasions on his cheek and forehead.
Gaskins was arrested and transported to the Suwannee County Jail. His bond was set at $20,000.00. As of Tuesday Gaskins was no longer incarcerated.
