L ester Hurst, age 84, of Jasper, Florida, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at Lake City VA Medical Center in Lake City, Florida, following a brief illness. Hurst was born in O'Brien, Florida on December 16, 1919, to the late Wiley and Geneva Hurst. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Morgan of Jasper; two step-sons: Hollie (Grace) McDonald and Dwayne (Dorothy) McDonald; a step-daughter, Gloria (Leon) McGauley; two brothers: Hubert Hurst, Darien, Georgia, and Billy Hurst, Live Oak, Florida; three sisters: Dorothy Vanosdol, Gladys Hand, and Pauline Hogan, all of Jasper; one grandson, Keith (Melissa ) Morgan; two great-granddaughters: Brittney and Brandy Morgan; 11 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 27, 2004, in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Pastor Bill White officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Jasper, Florida.
