Jean A. Lawson, a homemaker, age 47, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2005 in Gainesville. She was a native of Alma, GA. Coming from Starke, she had lived in Mayo for the past 18 years. Mrs. Lawson was a Baptist, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, shopping, and selling Avon, and also spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Alan and Gladys (Griffin) Alan. She is survived by her husband of 8 years, Bud Lawson of Mayo.
Other survivors include (6) sons: Sonny Chambers and wife Nancy, of Panama City, Tommy Lawson and wife Crystal, of Mayo, Tommy Rose of Graceville, William Lawson and wife Melissa, of Jacksonville, Michael Hickox, of Mayo, and Josh Rose, of Mayo, (2) daughters; Angie Keen and husband Buddy, and Melissa Murray and husband Rex, all of Mayo, (1) brother; Jay Ducksworth, of Mayo, (1) sister; Shirley Morgan, of Cairo, GA, (11) grandchildren and (3) great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at the Burns Mayo Chapel, with Rev. T. J. Santerfeit and Bro. Charlie Walker, officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Family received friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Chapel.
Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in Mayo was in charge of all the arrangements.
