The Lafayette High Hornet's football team will be shooting for an undefeated season this Friday night when West Gadsen comes to town.

It would be a serious mistake to take this team for granted. They made the playoffs last year coming out of district one, and despite recording only three wins this year, can compete with anybody.

They started the season with two losses to Bolles and Blountstown, both state finalist last year.

West Gadsen appeared ready for another playoff run with wins over Sneads and Liberty before losing three tough district games in the closing seconds.

Port St Joe shut the door on West Gadsen last week 23-0, but had to thwart an early rush by the Gadsen team before taking control in the second half.

West Gadsen is dangerous from the tailback position. According to coach Pearson, this team is quick and can bust the big play on you from anywhere on the field. It will be important for the Hornets to take control in the trenches early. West Gadsen is extremely aggressive defensively with only two of their last seven opponents scoring more than 19 points. Those two are both top five teams, but still only produced 28 and 23 points.

Kickoff is slated for 7:30 pm and the Hornets will be honoring the seniors. It should be a great night as another successful part of Hornet history is written.
