After suffering a four game losing streak, the Branford High School (3-4-0) softball team is on the mend, starting with a win against Aucilla Christian Academy (3-5-0), with a  score of 9-5, on Feb. 28, followed by defeating the Trenton Tigers (3-4-0), 11-10, on Monday afternoon, in Branford.

“We played a really good game. They played as a team. That is a big improvement,” BHS head coach LaDon Terry said.

Terry said the girls are going to continue working on team work and focusing on hitting the ball.

“We want to put the ball into play and let the other teams make the mistakes. That’s how we are going to score runs,” Terry said.

The Bucs started the season with a win against Melody Christian (3-6-0), 15-3. Following that, the team was defeated by Hamilton County (2-4-0), 11-5, Lafayette High (10-1-0), 24-0, Jefferson County (1-5-0), 12-11, and Dixie County (6-3-0), 19-9.

BHS played Bronson on Thursday night, but the score was not available for press time. The rest of the season will be on home turf for the Bucs, with the next feat against Hamilton County, at 7 p.m., for varsity, 5 p.m., for junior varsity and 3 p.m., for middle school, on March 15.
