Branford JV took the field Friday night in a contest versus Suwannee Middle School. Both squads started out slow, going back and forth with a run each in the first three innings. Starting pitcher John Perry and relief pitcher Daniel Garrett teamed up for five innings of good work for the JV Bucs and kept the Suwannee offense at bay. Bucs hitters heated up in the fifth inning and scored five runs to jump ahead 8-3. Kyle Certain entered the game on the mound and pitched three scoreless innings and made some sparkling defensive plays from the mound. Patrick VanAsch and Daniel Garrett had multi hit performances while picking up multiple RBI as well. Seth Thompson remained hot while adding a double and RBI. Mason Tyler also added a hit and an RBI for the Bucs. The game ended in Branford’s favor 11-3 and the Bucs JV remains unbeaten for the season. The JV will host Mayo JV on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. the JV contest scheduled with Bell for Friday nght has been cancelled and that will be a varsity only contest starting at 7 p.m. in Branford.
