Funeral services for Beverly Annette Douglas, 74, were held Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the Westside Baptist Church Teachey Chapel, 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville Florida, with Rev. Ray Mayfield officiating. Interment followed at in the Evergreen Cemetery, Jasper Florida. The graveside service was commemorated by Rev. Rodger Hutto of the First Baptist Church, Jasper.
Mrs. Beverly Annette Douglas of Jacksonville, Fl died on Sunday, April 4th after a long illness. Mrs.Douglas was born in Jasper, FL, and was the third and youngest child of Wade F. Johnson and Maggie Belle Lang.
Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Ratliff, a brother, Wade F. Johnson and a son, Willie L. Douglas, Jr.
Mrs. Douglas was a devout Christian and an active member of the Westside Jacksonville Baptist Church, up until her illness restricted her activities. She was a past member of the VFW Post 8095 in Hamilton County FL and served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. In her earlier years Mrs. Douglas worked as an executive secretary for Winn Dixie Stores at their corporate office in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Douglas is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Willie L. Douglas Sr., of Jacksonville, Florida; her daughter, Susan A. Pearson of Orange Park, Florida; her son Larry N. Douglas and his wife Anna, of Tezze Sul Brenta, Italy. Three granddaughters, Cheryl Pearson, Brandy Beckwith and her husband Bryan, Cortney Beckett and her husband John; three grandsons, Curtis Lethco, Larry N. Douglas Jr. and Enrico E. Douglas. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Douglas was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Community Hospice of Jacksonville, Florida or to the Westside Baptist Church, (building Fund).
